ABOUT SAGE

The week of her 3rd birthday, Sage fell and injured her chin and was rushed her to the Emergency Department at Arkansas Children's Northwest (ACNW), where she received 13 stitches. Her parents believe it was the best possible urgent care they could have asked for and were so thankful ACNW was close by. They continue to be comforted knowing help is less than 20 minutes away. Sage's parents say the ED was full with just one doctor on duty, but they treated their daughter as if she were their only patient and a part of their family. Sage was scared during her visit, but her doctor and nurses were calm and patient throughout. Sage has a small scar from her accident, but that doesn't stop her from being a curious toddler, who loves princesses, airplanes, crafting and gardening. She cares deeply for those around her and always looks to include others.

ABOUT THE ART

From the artist: The inspiration was wanting to keep on theme with western, but with sentiment. Parenting is a lot like the Wild West trying to keep our kids safe, and it's also beautiful. The cacti that Sage mostly painted and Dr. Julia sutured, represents the 13 stitches she got during her ER stay.
