Beautiful artwork collaboration created by local artist Meg Befort and Arkansas Children's patient Lilly, age 7.
ABOUT LILLY
When Lilly was 5 years old, she had an obstructed kidney as well as a large kidney stone that required surgery. Lilly underwent a pyeloplasty with stone breakup and a stent placement at Arkansas Children's Hospital (ACH). She then suffered from multiple UTIs, and ultimately had nephrostomy tubes placed into her kidneys. The tubes were unexpected, but Lilly's parents expressed that they trusted her doctors at ACH to make the best decisions for their daughter. A highlight from their ACH stay was a visit from one of the therapy dogs, and her mom says, "Everyone provided the best care! I love ACH and Lilly's care team." Lilly still has routine visits for kidney monitoring and follow up. She likes basketball and soccer and enjoys reading, drawing, coloring and playing piano. And you can find Lilly doing cartwheels wherever she goes!
ABOUT THE ART
Lilly wanted to paint a flower, and for obvious reasons her and Meg chose a lily! Not only to represent her name, but also because the lily flower is a symbol of hope, and what better word to describe the work of Arkansas Children's Northwest. We used acrylic and oil pastel to complete this piece.
