Beautiful artwork collaboration created by local artist Kellen Scott and Arkansas Children's patient Levi, age 3.
ABOUT LEVI
At 25 weeks in utero, Levi was diagnosed with alpha thalassemia major, which causes extreme, life-threatening anemia. He receives blood transfusions monthly at Arkansas Children's Hospital (ACH). His parents say the best part of receiving treatment at ACH is the kind and caring staff. One nurse has been working with Levi since he was 2 months old and is always a source of comfort on transfusion days. Levi is bright, silly and opinionated. He loves dancing, singing and shooting his nerf gun around the house, and he's obsessed with Pokemon and Minecraft. This June, Levi will receive a stem cell transplant at a hospital in another state, with his baby sister as his donor. Hopefully, this procedure will cure Levi and he will no longer need blood transfusions.
ABOUT THE ART
From the artist: This painting was inspired by the Levi's favorite worlds-full of wonder, imagination, and adventure-I designed a scene that celebrates hope, resilience, and the power of connection. The central figure is based on the child himself: strong, joyful, and surrounded by possibilities. Thank you to Levi's parents for allowing me access to such an amazing child. This work was a gift from the heart, created not only to brighten his experience, but to serve as a daily reminder that even in the hardest times, there is light ahead-and a whole world of people cheering him on.
