Beautiful artwork collaboration created by local artist Nicole Curry and Arkansas Children's patient Ela, age 8.
ABOUT ELA
Ela was referred to the Hematology/Oncology Department at Arkansas Children's Northwest (ACNW) when she was 7 years old because of concerning hormone levels in her blood. Testing revealed she had low iron. Ela's mom says she was scared, but the nurses who drew Ela's blood used different tools to take her mind off what was happening. Ela is still being tested and monitored for low iron, but she's not scared anymore, and every time she returns to ACNW, her mother says she is ready. Ela loves sports and plays basketball, softball and volleyball the most. She enjoys helping others and always tries her hardest at everything she does.
ABOUT THE ART
Ela loves living on a farm with her family and animals of all kinds-even snakes. She likes to watch animal and art videos. Even though she has very low iron she is always on the GO! Her painting of the Barn represents all the love she has for the farm life she lives. She also loves art and creating something out of scraps, glue, beads, trash.. you name it! She loves the Lord and her verse represents her and her low iron journey, Philippians 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord always. She is always happy and has never feared the path she is on.
