"Fish Line Blackbirds" by Thomas Francis
Canvas, 36x36

Vibrant, layered, and full of life, this original painting by Thomas Francis captures a moment of balance and beauty-birds perched along a rope, with fish hanging below-rendered in his signature palette of saturated color and lush pattern. The composition evokes the delicate harmony of nature, where air and water, flight and stillness, coexist in vivid interplay.

Francis's work is celebrated for its exuberant color, intricate layering, and physicality of paint-each canvas a tactile exploration of light, pattern, and natural form. This piece embodies his fascination with the intertwining of flora and fauna and his lifelong "celebration of paint."

About the Artist:
Wisconsin-born Tom Francis is an Emeritus Professor of Painting at SCAD-Atlanta and one of the region's most respected painters. His work has been exhibited at the Walker Art Center (Minneapolis), the High Museum of Art(Atlanta), the Georgia Museum of Fine Art (Athens), the Chapelle de la Sorbonne (Paris), and the Palazzo di Venezia(Rome), among others, and is held in numerous private and corporate collections.

A longtime Atlanta artist, Francis's paintings-defined by vivid color, layered patterning, and joyful complexity-reflect both his Midwestern roots and his profound connection to the lush, light-filled landscapes of the South.
