Supporting Clearwater's Mariner and Shipwright Trainee Program!

Entry-level, paid, learning positions in the maritime and shipwright industries can be life-changing experiences, but they are hard to come by. Since our maiden voyage in 1969, Clearwater has been a beacon of learning, building a nationally recognized training program that opens doors to careers on the water and beyond. Each sailing season aspiring deckhands come aboard for 4-10 weeks to learn sailing, navigation, and environmental education from our professional crew. During the winter season, shipwright trainees learn from our captains and master shipwrights, restoring our beloved sloop and preserving a centuries-old craft.

Now formalized as our Mariner and Shipwright Trainee Program, this initiative provides a rare and invaluable opportunity for those without prior experience to explore new career paths, and develop traditional skills through hands-on learning in a structured and supportive environment. For many, it is a transformative journey that builds confidence, purpose, and a deep connection to our maritime heritage.
