"Seventh graders used tissue paper and a matte gel medium to create a textured surface on their own individual 2.5 x 2.5 stretched canvas. Once dry, students painted the squares with one of four neutral colors provided, with gold leaf as accents. The small canvases were then mounted and evenly glued in a grid formation onto a homemade frame, stained with a whitewash. The artwork can be hung vertically or horizontally and be interpreted as the viewer sees fit. Students referenced mountains as they made ridges in their tissue paper as well as waves in bodies of water.""
