Whether you are an Opera aficionado or would like to know more about this art form, this evening will enrich your appreciation. Why is the baritone the villain and the soprano the heroine in most operas? Learn this and more with an introduction to operatic voices and a live performance of operatic arias and songs of the classical repertoire. Tenor Gabriel Liboiron-Cohen and Mezzo-Soprano Lara Patton-Cohen (both EB parents) will delight you with their singing. Host Thierry Durandard will join them with a selection of French songs.
The evening will be held at the home of Rick Richetta and Thierry Durandard in the Oakland Hills on Saturday, April 5, 2025 from 6:00 to 9:00pm. Weather permitting, Rick and Thierry will also offer a tour of their beautiful gardens and horse facility. Cocktails and hors d'oeuvres will be served to make sure that all of your senses are satisfied!

Are you a musician or concert-goer? If your lifestyle regularly exposes you to noisy environments where music is the center of the experience, then you're a perfect candidate for Custom Musician Ear Plugs from the Berkeley Hearing Center. Start with a personalized consultation with a Doctor of Audiology, who will help find the perfect fit. Custom earplugs provide an airtight acoustic seal for greater protection (you can even wear them swimming!), allow for greater wearing comfort so you can protect your ears for longer, and are less likely to fall out or move around when you're active (e.g. dancing!).
While musicians' earplugs are designed to help professional music-makers, they can be beneficial to all sorts of creative virtuosos, such as students in the school band music teachers, and concert or festival attendees. (Musicians' earplugs can actually improve the fidelity of amplified concerts by reducing distortion associated with the auditory system being overdriven!). Music isn't blocked, but high-frequency sound is; you can enjoy the melody without sacrificing the sound, whether you're making the music or watching it performed.
