Artist: Jackie Qatalina Schaeffer
This atikluq, made of cotton fabric, a caribou button, and nylon fringe, is a powerful testament to the resilience and remembrance of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG). Created for the Protection: Adaptation & Resistance exhibit that toured across the United States, the artist's hands moved with purpose, guided by the wisdom of her ancestors. This garment is not just clothing; it is a tribute, a remembrance, and a call to never forget. May the spirits of our stolen sisters soar, and may we continue to honor them in all that we do.
