2025 Jefferson County Distinguished Citizens Dinner

April 22, 2025 6:00 - 10:00 pm

Bavarian Inn, Resort and Brewing Company, Shepherd Grade Road, Shepherdstown, WV, USA

Ginny is a native of the state of Arkansas.  She is familiar with rural living as her family farmed cotton, corn, and rice.  She also knows a little about what takes to operate a general store, as her family owned two throughout her growing up.  Ginny graduated high school in 1959.  She went on to receive her Bachelor of Science from Jackson University in 1968. She was part of Florida's Duval County Public School System during the early 1970's integration of schools.  She says what she learned then was worth more than any master's program experience she could have been offered.  In Ginny's first marriage, she was blessed with a daughter, Kelly Michele McBride Farquharson.  While Ginny has spent over 25 years in education, she has also spent approximately the same number of years working in corporations that supported the Department of Defense.

Dan was born and raised in Alexandria, Virginia and grew up in the Del Ray area.  He can't remember when he was not riding his bike or playing sandlot baseball and football.  They goal was to play outside from 9am to 9pm.  Dan graduated from George Washington High School in 1955.  Afterwards he enrolled in Roanoke College in Salem, Virginia.  His remaining studies were conducted at the University of Virginia.  Dan has two daughters, Camden Frost and Jennifer Holle for his first marriage.  Dan had 42 years of Federal Government service.  Thirty-five years of it was spent with the Department of Defense Navy's Strategic Weapons Systems Program.

Ginny and Dal with celebrate their 36th wedding anniversary on May 25th.  Ginny says she never has a dull day being married to this aged boy scout! Dan marvels at Ginny's involvement in so many activities and interests, but believes it's keeping her young.
