Protect your home and family from wildfires with wildfire mitigation chipping services. Evergreen residents know that living in our beautiful mountain town offers spectacular scenery but also the reality of a high risk of wildfires. Taking proactive steps to create defensible space around your home by removing shrubs and trees is an easy way to safeguard your property against a fire's potentially devastating effects.

Most insurance companies require a fire mitigation plan to provide or renew coverage and many insurers are becoming more stringent in their requirements.

A qualified Evergreen Fire/Rescue Mitigation Specialist will conduct the home assessment with you to provide a report of recommendations to help reduce the risk of wildfire. These recommendations will include the vegetation around your home (defensible space) as well as vulnerabilities of your home and structures (home hardening) on your property. Recommendations will be made with the sole purpose of helping you, the homeowner, better understand how you can reduce the risk of wildfire to your home. To assist in your efforts, Evergreen Fire Rescue will also include chipping of up to ten (10) neatly stacked slash piles per property, each with maximum dimensions of 5 feet in height, 5 feet in width, and 5 feet in length, provided they are placed roadside for easy access.

Chipping service is available only to residents within the Evergreen Fire Protection District. Please verify your eligibility before bidding. Chipping will occur weekly, Monday through Thursday. Piles (sized 5' x 5' x 5') must be stacked by 8 a.m. on the first scheduled chipping day with large cut ends facing the road (maximum diameter 8"). Ensure no rocks, dirt, debris, trash, root wads, or treated lumber are included in the piles. The crew will chip all available piles when they come by your address.

Please note: tree cutting/stacking is not included in this package.
