from the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II and her father George VI -- circa 1952 and 1937
The fascination, worldwide, with the British Monarchy never seems to wane. It is as vibrant as ever. * In 1937 - George VI - "Bertie" as he was lovingly named - was crowned King of England, bringing the 3rd reign to the House of Windsor. On Dec 11 1936, the day of his brother's abdication, George VI began his reign. * His daughter Elizabeth did the same thing in mid 1952 - as she was crowned. She still reigns. In both instances their coronations were spectacles and remembered forever, captured in commemorative pieces across the Empire.
