A unique tintype of a wayside in the Sonoran desert. A tintype is a photograph made by hand using the wet plate collodion process, a direct exposure onto a sheet of enameled aluminum, made with silver and light.

Artist Bio:
Em White is an artist and educator, specializing in large format photography and handmade photographic processes. Raised in rural Virginia, much of her work emphasizes personal relationships to land and how they impact identity. Primarily self taught, White's approach to photography has been shaped by personal experimentation and opportunities to learn from established artists. Her artwork is in the collections of the Library of Virginia, the Eleanor D. Wilson Museum, the Virginia Museum of History and Culture and the Candela Collection. She has taught at Virginia Commonwealth University, Corcoran School of the Arts, Penumbra Foundation and various community arts organizations. When not in the darkroom, she can be found walking along the James River with her three dogs. She currently lives in Richmond, VA.
