K.J. Wright (#50) Signed Seattle Seahawks Football

K.J. Wright, donning jersey #50, stands as a paragon of consistency and leadership in Seattle Seahawks history. Selected in the fourth round of the 2011 NFL Draft from Mississippi State, Wright swiftly became a cornerstone of the Seahawks' defense, renowned for his football intelligence, versatility, and unwavering commitment.

Throughout his 10 seasons with Seattle, Wright played in 144 games, starting 140 of them, and amassed 934 tackles-ranking third in franchise history-alongside 13.5 sacks, 11 forced fumbles, and 6 interceptions. He played a pivotal role in the Seahawks' formidable "Legion of Boom" defense, contributing to four consecutive playoff appearances, two NFC Championship victories, and the team's first Super Bowl title in Super Bowl XLVIII.

Wright's adaptability was evident in 2020 when he transitioned to the strongside linebacker position to accommodate emerging talent, delivering one of his best seasons with double-digit tackles for loss and pass deflections. Despite his continued high-level performance, the Seahawks opted for a youth movement, leading Wright to spend his final NFL season with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2021.

Off the field, Wright's impact was equally significant. He was the Seahawks' 2018 nominee for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award and received the Steve Largent Award in 2020, recognizing his dedication to community service. His philanthropic efforts include building wells in Kenya, constructing homes for the homeless in Seattle, and supporting educational initiatives in Haiti.

In July 2022, Wright signed a one-day contract to retire as a Seahawk, expressing profound gratitude to the organization and fans during an emotional press conference. Post-retirement, he has remained connected to the team and the Seattle community, embodying the spirit of the franchise both on and off the field.
