Monica Owens was born in Ohio and was raised in Southeastern Kentucky (Lynch). She is a graduate of Cumberland
High School., and participated in the KHSAA Girls Basketball State Tournament
twice. An alumnus of Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tennessee, she was inducted into the Athletes Hall of Fame in 2009, as a multi-record holder. In
1988, she was crowned Miss LMU, and was a contestant in the Miss Tennessee Pageant in Jackson, TN.

Monica is a local business leader in manufacturing, supply chain and business technology. She has spent time in ministry, as well as sharing business skills and life lessons, nurturing young people in the area. She is recognized as being a growth mindset coach, who continuously strives to become the best version of herself, while bringing out the best in others. Recently, has become an
independent consultant and began the journey of educating in the
areas of personal wellness and overall fitness.

She is mother to a women's college basketball graduate and star,
Maaliya Owens who was the 2023-24 Preseason Women's Basketball OVC Player of the Year, a 2019 Miss Kentucky Basketball Finalist, and graduate of Scott County High School in Georgetown,
Kentucky.

Monica's hobbies include basketball, ballroom dancing, singing and she enjoys graphic design. She is passionate about Jesus, accountability and growth. She encourages and uplifts, while not being
afraid to help others learn from her mistakes and challenges.
