Welcome to Kester Hereford's Heifer and Genetics sale. Located in the heart of cattle country, the primary focus of our program is to breed Hereford cattle that provide a value-added return to the beef industry. Understanding the vast majority of cattle are still sold by the pound, we strive to enhance the breed through weaning weight and yearling weight performance while maintaining a solid foundation of calving ease, maternal qualities, and carcass merit. We achieve this though our genetic selection in our cow base. We believe the performance in our cow base is as phenotypically and genomically powerful as you'll find in the industry.
The show ring has never been our focus, yet the few times a year (state fair & Denver) we pick a few heifers or bulls to take to a show, our cattle have proven to rise to the top including the 2024 Nebraska State Fair Champion Horned Hereford Heifer calf that is on this sale. These heifers are bred to produce industry leading offspring, yet if it's your ambition to hit the show trail, we believe our program gives you the best of both worlds.
All the cattle are located 1.5 miles east of Clearwater, Ne. If you'd like to view the cattle, we'll be having an open house on Saturday Oct 19th in Clearwater from 10am to dark. Come watch the Husker football game, have lunch, and look at the cattle. Or you're welcome to give Cody a call anytime and come see the cattle at your convenience. All the cattle on the sale are broke to tie.
Seller is retaining the right to two successful flushes on each heifer with a guarantee of at least 6 embryos per flush at the seller's expense and buyer's convenience. All heifers are guaranteed breeders as long as they are maintained appropriately. Overweight heifers, heifers that are mishandled, and heifers that are traded or resold after this sale will not be guaranteed. Heifers that are flushed or given superovulation drugs will not be guaranteed.
We would like all the sale cattle picked up by November 15th. Buyer is responsible for trucking and transportation for the cattle. We're easy to get along with, give us a call if you need assistance with trucking, we ensure transportation isn't a point of contention for you.

This Auction has a horse race style finish. Every time someone bids during the last 5 minutes of the auction the clock will extend 5 more minutes until no one bids for an entire 5 minutes. Please note that this countdown duration may be changed without notice during the auction.

SmartAuctions will invoice all buyers and release the lot after payment is received. PAYMENT IS DUE UPON RECEIPT. A credit/debit card will be required ONLY to verify identity of bidders, but you will not be charged for your purchases on your card UNLESS you choose that option or you have not paid for your purchases prior to 12 days after the auction closes. Your credit card will be charged if payment has not been received within 12 days after purchase or arrangements have not been communicated. If your credit card payment is declined at the 12 days your purchase will accrue an interest of 6%. If you pay with a card you will be charged a 5% transaction fee.
