Artist Statement
My paintings explore the interplay of light, color, and form, capturing the essence of a moment with direct and purposeful brushstrokes. Working in oil on canvas, I am drawn to both urban and rural landscapes, from the dynamic energy of New York City to the quiet charm of Bavaria's countryside. Barns, farms, interiors, and still life compositions
serve as my subjects, each reflecting my fascination with atmosphere and structure. Inspired by Fairfield Porter's harmonious compositions, David Hockney's bold palette, Edward Hopper's evocative solitude, Alice Neel's expressive realism, and John Singer Sargent's masterful technique, I seek to balance observation with intuition. My approach
is free yet intentional, focusing on form and value rather than excessive detail. Each painting is a response to the way light shapes a scene, inviting the viewer to experience a familiar place through a fresh perspective. Through my work, I aim to celebrate the beauty of everyday spaces, creating images that resonate with both memory and emotion.
