Cynthia Goodman Brantley
Diptych/Wrapped Forms, 2021
Oil on masonite panels
6.5 x 6.5"

Artist Statement
I am interested in how forms can be described by various means. At the time I did this small work, I was doing a series of paintings depicting shapes I called "Spindles". They were rods wrapped with pieces of wires or yarn of different colors. The geometric forms, as individual shapes came along after the spindles. They are all connected to a theme I explore under the heading: "Invisible Loom", which represents the interconnections of the human experience for me.

Artist Bio
I have been an "artist" for about 60 some years now. I came to Philadelphia from North Carolina, 51 years ago to enroll at the Philadelphia Academy of Fine arts. I completed a BFA and a MFA at University of Pennsylvania. I have drawn and painted all these years. I use oils when I paint and color pencils when I draw. I love both mediums equally, and usually when I first conceive of a work, the medium comes with the idea. I hope to continue my work in the upcoming years.
