Artist Statement

London Flag, panel 3 of 3 is an illuminated art piece created from a series of 35mm slides of an open air market in London in the mid-1950's. Compressing space and time, Lisa Marie digitized and manipulated the slides into a new, colorful configuration, emphasizing iconic elements from the urban landscape as well as the many flags on display. The illuminated art panel was custom built out of red oak that is stained with natural wood finish.

Lisa Marie Patzer's artistic practice celebrates memory and history by reimagining archival materials in new visual forms. Using cutting-edge digital techniques, Patzer transforms archival content into luminous arrangements for contemporary audiences. Her process is a form of visual dialogue involving historical research, collaboration with curators, and deep listening to place. Based primarily in the greater Philadelphia region, Lisa Marie's woodshop is located in Media, PA and design studio is in Wilmington, DE.
