The wine comes from the historic and prestigious estate at Alban Vineyards in Edna Valley, California. Alban Vineyards was founded by John Alban back in 1990, and it became the first winery in America dedicated exclusively to Rhone varietals.
Since 2000, John Alban has only collaborated on a wine outside of his family label twice. This wine is the third.
Celebrities and athletes make wine all the time, but rarely, if ever, do we see them use the highest quality of grapes and wine making. This elite vineyard paired with George Kittle's popularity and beloved personality puts this wine in a category of its own.
Le Petit Frere is a Pinot Noir. There is one vineyard on the Alban estate that has always been particularly special to John's wife Lorraine. Perched on a steep north-facing hillside and planted into loam frosted sandstone, there lies an isolated and unique block comprised of four acres of Pinot Noir, all planted the year they were married - 1997. Back when John started making wine, the only varietals getting any love and attention in the central coast were Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, and everyone kept telling him that Pinot can't grow on North facing slopes. So what did John do? True to form, he solely bottled the Pinot Noir that came from those North facing slopes. The history of these vines are rooted in perseverance, courageousness, and a defiant spirit.
This theme runs true in the Kittle and Till families too.
The name "Le Petit Frere" translates to "The Little Brother" as George is a little brother to his older sister Emma, and Riley Till, who brought this collaboration to life, is the little brother of Claire, George's wife.
This is a limited edition collaboration with only 200 bottles available! Cork is signed by George Kittle.
