The Guardians began in 2021 as a photo documentary and storytelling project to not only celebrate the unrecognized community work of African American women leaders from across Baltimore City neighborhoods, but also engage and inform the broader Baltimore community about the city's most pressing issues.
We're currently raising match funds to unlock $75,000 from the NEA Our Town Grant, which will support neighborhood initiatives and bringing The Guardians exhibit to their neighborhoods.
All donations made through this platform and via check to Maryland Art Place (MAP), our nonprofit fiscal sponsor, are tax deductible. You will receive the proper documentation directly from MAP.
