This gingerbread structure was inspired by my son, who passed on December 21, 2014. It represents a village of hope - a reminder that even though we struggle or miss someone deeply, there is always hope. My son loved Christmas, especially my cookies and treats, so he is the inspiration and my eternal love.
By Carla Bacon and Carla Stayboldt
The Carlas have been best of friends for 25 years with a foundation based on mutual respect for each other's Jewish and Christian faiths. They have created one house to symbolize the strength of their joint faiths as well as unity and hope for peace. The blue and white symbolize the hope of Hanukkah blending in with the hope of Christmas in red and green.
