Week in Tuxedo Park Home
For church members only:
Up for bid is a stay in a historic Gilded Age home in Tuxedo Park, NY for up to one week (Saturday through Friday) in the Winter, Spring or Fall of 2025 - date to be mutually agreed with the home's owners, Jeff and Chandra Metzler.
The third floor of the home will be all yours. It sleeps up to seven people (one bedroom with 4 twin beds, one bedroom with a full bed and a twin bed in a sleeping nook). The bedrooms have lake views. The third floor also features a game room with a television, foosball table, dart board, and other games. The kitchen, living room and library on the first floor will also be accessible.
Tuxedo Park is in Orange County, New York, about an hour north of Manhattan. The community started as a private fishing and hunting preserve for those who didn't want to be bothered with the formalities of Newport, RI.
And, yes, that tuxedo. The formal suit with studded shirt and cummerbund takes its name from Tuxedo Park where the style of dress was popularized.
The house is accessible via NJ Transit or Coach Bus from NYC though it is helpful to have a car for sightseeing. The area features great hiking in Sterling Forest, Harriman State Park and Bear Mountain Preserve. There is also the Renaissance Fair in the fall. Storm King Art Center is a half hour drive. So is the DIA Museum in Beacon, NY. Skiing at Mountain Creek is an hour away.
