CJ Hobgood, a tenacious goofyfoot pro surfer, made his mark as the 2001 ASP World Champion. Born in 1979 in Melbourne Beach, Florida, he began riding waves at the age of five and entered his first surfing contest in 1989, finishing second in the Open Boys division.

Turning pro in 1998, Hobgood quickly rose through the ranks, qualifying for the ASP World Championship Tour the following year. In 2001, at just 22 years old, he claimed the prestigious ASP World Title. Over a 15-year career on the World Tour, he consistently ranked among the top ten and earned widespread respect as one of the sport's most dedicated and influential surfers.

Beyond competition, Hobgood co-founded Salty Crew in 2013, a brand rooted in the lifestyle of watermen who embrace surfing, fishing, diving, and sailing. Established in San Diego, the brand reflects his passion for the ocean and the culture that surrounds it.
