Join Ben and Rachael Thrash for an evening of Finnish culture and cuisine, right here in their home near campus. This unique experience will introduce you to the food, traditions, and charm of Nordic life.
Enjoy a delicious Finnish meal* featuring your choice of reindeer or salmon, served with lingonberry sauce and potatoes, and finished with a traditional strawberry meringue cake. Sip on Finnish gin and cranberry cocktails (known as the Finnish Long Drink) while trying your hand at some of Finland's most unique traditions, including a friendly air guitar contest, boot throwing, and navigating a hobby-horsing course. If the weather cooperates, you can also play a round of Mulkey, a classic Finnish lawn game.
The evening concludes with a slideshow of photos capturing Finland's gorgeous landscapes and culture. While we can't promise the Northern Lights or free healthcare, you'll leave with a deeper understanding of Finnish life-and some new hobbies to try at home.
