The first 100,000 Peconic Gold oysters were planted in 2013 utilizing off bottom culture. Off-bottom farming is a method of growing oysters in containers suspended above the seafloor. The containers are typically made of mesh and can be baskets, bags, or cage
In the Fall of 2019, Captain Matt and his team celebrated the grand opening of the Peconic Gold Oyster Farm stand located at 21125 County Road 48 in Cutchogue.
The farm stand is open daily for self service for Peconic Gold Oysters in the shell, shucked pints of Peconic Gold Oysters, and various value added products fresh from the Great Peconic Bay!
Winner will also receive two bottles of award winning wine from Paumanok, a family owned 127 acre winery, founded in 1983 by Charles and Ursula Massoud. Today winemaker, Kareem Massoud and previous president of Long Island Wine Country continues his parents passion, he explains his philosophy, "believe that wine is made in the vineyard. There's simply no substitute for starting out with the healthiest fruit available. You can't manufacture great wine, you must grow it."
