Peggy Bilbro is a photographer, artist and writer living in Huntsville, Alabama who began her artistic pursuits after a long career as a Spanish teacher. Her education was in Spanish language and literature, with no formal training in art or photography. She has been a writer for many years, specializing in poetry, and has been a long-time member of The Writers Group, a small group of women writers in Huntsville. She has explored a variety of artistic media, from photography to charcoal and oils. Her literary studies and artistic explorations have led her to attempt to translate the lyrical counterpoint between nature and humans into her photographic images. Much of her photography is the result of her extensive travels around the world.

Peggy has exhibited her photographs at the Monte Sano Art Festival, Panoply, the Decatur River Clay Fine Arts Festival, the Murfreesboro 'Boro Art Crawl, the Huntsville Arts Council pARTy, and the aRtZ Studio.

Marilyn Simandle

Marilyn Simandle is an internationally known oil and water color painter. At the age of six, and learning from her mother, a musician and painter, Marilyn started painting watercolors. She has always known that she would become a professional artist. After receiving her BA Arts Degree from San Jose State University along with decades of discipline and dedicated practice, Marilyn has gone on to share her inspirations with the world. She is credentialed as a Master with OPAM, NWS, and AWS (Oil Painters of America, National Water Color Society, and American Water Color Society). She has authored two books, "Capturing Light in Watercolor" and "Contagious Enthusiasm", both of which reflect her mantra "It takes a lot of practice to become a professional".

A native Californian, she now resides in Hampton Cove, Alabama, where she explores all her passions: painting, gardening, and playing the piano. The former flight attendant is an avid traveler and photographer - these activities keep her fully stocked with subject matter for painting.

My handwriting and sketches were praised by my elementary school teachers and I liked having a little recognition thrown my way, all kids do. As I got older, my mother, an artist told me, "I think you might be a good painter." My dad, a mechanical engineer told me, "get a degree where you can get a job and support yourself." So, that's what I did, the dad-version. But, I also took as many art electives as possible.

I LOVE color. You will see that in my paintings. And I love how color and form interact to strengthen each other. I also love to oil paint. No other medium can bring you the colors that oils can. Also, when (not if), you screw up, you can paint over it, wipe the paint off, scrape the paint off and keep going. Oils are such a forgiving medium which makes me love them even more. I want the colors to jump off the canvas and into your arms.

I have been fortunate to study painting under some talented artists and teachers; Guildo Frick, the famous Russian Expressionist artist who was a student of Sergi Bongart, Linda Ellen Price, Sara Beth Fair, Gina Brown, and Cynthia Parsons.

Robert Bean holds a B.F.A. from Mississippi State University and M.F.A. from Louisiana State University. He has taught classes in figure painting and drawing at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA and at Alabama A&M University.

Bean is currently teaching classes at UAH in the Department of Art, Art History and Design and the Huntsville Museum of Art Academy. His works have been in group and solo exhibitions.

Bean uses his art as a way to communicate with and understand the world around him. Because we all see the world through our own perceptions, Robert tries to create narrative paintings that incorporate personal subject matter and symbols in addition to using more universal themes and archetypes to create paintings that work as a whole.
