This antique ring set in platinum with approx. .87 carat Old European Cut diamond, ( SI 2, J,) (typical for the era); and 4 transition cut diamonds approximately .30 carat total weight (VS - SI) set in floral patterns near center stone; a leaf pattern drapes down the sides;

These old cut stones look especially beautiful by candlelight, having been cut between 1890 and 1930. (I thought that made sense given that it was the Rural Electrification Administration, bringing bringing electricity to most of the US, began in 1930)

The four transition cut diamonds are those between the old cut and today's RBC diamond cut. Not as deep, but with more facets than the old cuts, these perhaps beginning to take advantage of light by lamp!

The durability of the platinum setting would make this ring suitable for daily ware.
