Leo Sewell is a well-known "found object"
artist who created the iconic Liberty Torch
made of toys located in the museum's
Hamilton Hall.
When visitors enter the Please Touch
Museum, they are greeted by a lifesized,
40-foot replica of the Statue
of Liberty's Arm and Torch designed
by Leo Sewell. The original Statue of
Liberty Torch and Arm was an exhibit
in the 1876 Centennial Exhibition
at Memorial Hall and was used to
fundraise for the pedestal that now
holds the statue in New York.
