Project Title: Fraser Eagles Adaptive Skiers

Category: Supporting Special Populations (English Language Learners, Special Needs Students, Gifted Education)

Funding Amount Requested: $2000

Project Description:
Fraser Valley Elementary School is located 7 miles from Winter Park Resort, a world-class ski destination. However, many students with disabilities, including those with physical challenges, autism, or trauma histories, are unable to access this opportunity due to financial and logistical barriers. The Fraser Eagles Adaptive Skiers program, in partnership with the National Sports Center for the Disabled, will allow these students to experience skiing and snowboarding with adaptive equipment and instruction. This program will boost their confidence, self-esteem, and social-emotional skills, while also building physical strength and improving self-regulation. The benefits extend beyond skiing, empowering students academically, physically, and socially.

Impact:
This program will foster inclusion and provide students with disabilities the chance to participate in recreational activities alongside their peers. The tailored skiing experience will improve their physical fitness, self-confidence, and social interaction. Without this funding, students will miss the opportunity to engage in a life-enriching activity, which has the potential to improve their quality of life and future success.

Use of Funds:
The funds will cover transportation, adaptive ski instruction, equipment, and lift tickets for a four-week program with the National Sports Center for the Disabled.
