Project Description:
Jill Rowan is seeking funding for Strawberry Park Elementary's Integrated Learning Room (ILR), where K-5 Special Education students receive one-on-one support, learn life skills, and have a space to regulate their emotions. This project will support SPED students by creating a welcoming and calming learning environment, while also introducing essential life skills like food preparation, cleaning, and personal care. Additionally, the funds will help purchase the research-based Touch Math program, designed to engage students with multisensory learning and prevent them from falling behind in math.
Project Proposal:
This project aims to create a learning space that feels safe and inviting, offering flexible seating, sensory rugs, and calming toys to help students regulate their emotions. With the purchase of Touch Math, the goal is to provide early intervention in math for SPED students, making learning more engaging and accessible through manipulatives and hands-on activities. The funding will also be used to purchase supplies to teach life skills, including tools for food preparation, cleaning, and maintaining a tidy environment, giving students the skills to care for themselves and their surroundings.
Budget Narrative:
- Touch Math for grades K-3: $1,052.59
- Additional materials for the learning and regulation space are itemized in Jill's Amazon Wishlist.
