Project Description:
Cassie Brusuelas is requesting funds to create a makerspace for her 6th-grade science classroom at La Junta Intermediate School. This makerspace will allow students to engage in hands-on science modeling activities, enhancing their understanding of scientific concepts and systems. The project aims to give students, who may lack access to such experiences, a space where they can explore, create, and develop their own ideas. The requested funds will go towards purchasing materials such as tools, building supplies, and storage solutions, helping establish a creative and educational environment that promotes exploration and learning.

Impact:
This project will provide students in a low-income, rural community with valuable hands-on learning experiences. Many students in the East Otero School District lack access to tools and opportunities for creative exploration outside of school. By providing a makerspace, students will be able to model scientific concepts and engage in STEM activities that foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and innovation. The project will benefit not only current students but also future classes as the materials can be used for years to come.
