Project Description:
Clara Pena, a Technology teacher at North Fork High School in Hotchkiss, CO, is requesting funding for Cable Construction Kits to support her cybersecurity course. In this hands-on course, high school students will explore the fundamentals of networking, learning how cables, computers, and other technology form networks. With these kits, students will build their own Ethernet cables, reinforcing their understanding that all data sent in a network ultimately runs through physical cables. By providing this opportunity, students will gain valuable skills and insights into the critical role of networking and cabling in our connected world.

Project Proposal:
The Cable Construction Kits will provide students with a tangible learning experience in their cybersecurity class. These kits are designed to help students grasp the physical aspects of networking, as they learn how to build Ethernet cables and understand how data travels through networks. The project will inspire curiosity about the role of cabling in networking, motivate career exploration, and encourage a problem-solving mindset through hands-on trial and error. Additionally, these kits will allow students to gain practical skills that can be applied to future careers in technology and engineering.

Budget Narrative:
The funding will be used to purchase 30 cable construction kits, each priced at approximately $39, totaling $1,170. These kits will serve the class for many years, and the materials will be replenished as needed each year.
