Project Description:
Hanover is located about 12 miles southeast outside of Fountain, CO. We are a 1A small school with about 140 students in grades 7th-12th. From my understanding, a lot of the community we serve falls below the poverty line. I am requesting these funds because the band program is severely underfunded and neglected. There are 40 students enrolled in music, with instruments that are barely in playable condition. These 40 students take such good care of the instruments they have, and I do my best to maintain what the school has. I'd be looking at funding some clarinets, flutes, and saxophones. Student-grade instruments, and potentially with some funds left over, could also help purchase method books and sheet music. I hope we are considered!

Project Justification:
I believe music is a great outlet for students, and a powerful way for them to express themselves. The students here love music and particularly enjoy band, but we struggle with keeping a long-term music educator. The biggest community event is the art and music showcase that we put on twice a year, and the community really appreciates the work we put into the arts. Unfortunately, the arts cannot compete with the rising costs of repairs and maintenance of band instruments. Our district allocates money for a yearly band budget, and from my understanding, it's only a thousand dollars. We run through that money fast with piano tuning, reeds and supplies, and maintenance and repairs of the instruments we have.

Budget Breakdown:

• Two student clarinets at $200 each
• Two student flutes at $300 each
• Two alto saxophones at $400 each
• Leftover funds for sheet music from JW Pepper or etude/method books
