Project Description:
I would like to have a library of bilingual books for my world language classroom. I currently only have about 10 books in my library, which is not sufficient as I want to implement a new routine of reading for the first 5 to 10 minutes of class using books from the bilingual library. Exposure to languages and literature from around the world is essential to establishing global citizenship and fostering learners who are interested in other cultures and languages.

Proposal:
I have 120 students every day in my world language classroom. I would like to start each class with silent reading time, where students can pick out a book to read. Reading provides exposure to new words, concepts, themes, and cultures, and I hope it will spark vibrant discussions during class.

Budget Breakdown:

$1,500 will be used to buy a mix of bilingual books with different themes, SEL (Social-Emotional Learning) bilingual books, and a diverse cultural representation of bilingual books.
