Project Title: Sleeping Giant Storywalk!
Category: STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics)
Amount Requested: $2,000

Project Description:
Sleeping Giant School in Steamboat Springs, CO, is a thriving educational community nestled in the picturesque Yampa Valley. We are seeking funds to create a StoryWalk on the footpaths connecting the school to adjacent residential neighborhoods. This project will involve elementary students writing original stories, while middle schoolers gain hands-on experience by building and installing the story stands. This will enhance our community's engagement with literacy and outdoor exploration.

Proposal:
The StoryWalk project will require durable materials like weather-resistant wood, plexiglass, and an oversize color printer to produce large-format, student-created story pages. The project will provide valuable experiences in engineering, literacy, and creativity for our students, fostering a connection with the outdoors and encouraging collaboration between different grade levels.

Budget Breakdown:

  • Building Materials ($1,300): Weather-resistant wood, plexiglass, and mounting hardware for constructing the story stands.
  • Oversize Color Printer ($700): HP printer for producing vibrant, large-format, weatherproof story pages.

Total: $2,000
