Project Title: Technology Tools!
Category: STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics)
Amount Requested: $1,500
School Website: Center Consolidated Schools
Project Description:
I am requesting funding for classroom technology storage, headphones, privacy offices, and other materials to help my students learn the importance of organization and give them opportunities to create using their devices and headsets.
Proposal:
I am proud to teach at Haskin Elementary in Center, Colorado, located in the heart of the San Luis Valley. This rural, agricultural area with a large migrant population is in need of educational support. Approximately 88% of our students come from low-income families, and 89% of our community is Hispanic, with a large population of immigrants from Mexico and Guatemala.
Funding this project will allow me to organize classroom technology, provide headphones with mics for narrating stories, and offer other tools like privacy offices and charging stations. One exciting project I have in mind is for students to write, illustrate, and narrate fairy tales using their iPads and headsets, then share their creations with peers.
Budget Breakdown:
With $1,500, I will purchase the following:
- iPad charging cart
- Classroom set of headphones with mics
- Headphone hooks for storage
- Classroom set of chair pockets (for storing iPads)
- Classroom set of privacy folders
- Small laminator (for labeling and projects)
- Pillows/covers (for a Cozy Corner where students can work on their iPads)
