Project Title: Building a Better Future

Category: Vocational & Physical Education

Funding Amount Requested: $2000

Project Description:
I teach at-risk students who struggle with mainstream educational programs. My school is located in rural Colorado with a very diverse population of 150 students. We have introduced the idea that our students would be better served by developing real-life skills. We have a limited budget for this new program. My goal is to equip my classroom with materials and tools to provide real-life construction instruction. The pictures provided show the lack of resources in our industrial arts classroom.

Impact:
I would use these funds to better equip my classroom and purchase materials for low-income students who cannot provide for themselves. Each of the projects we complete in my classroom helps students become proficient in a variety of construction skills such as framing, concrete, plumbing, electrical, and drywall.

Use of Funds:

  • $200 - 2 x 4 boards
  • $150 - 1 x 4 boards
  • $200 - 2 x 6 boards
  • $150 - 1 x 6 boards
  • $200 - plywood
  • $1100 - various tools such as framing nailers, screw impact, impact driver, screws, nails, and other hardware
