Amount Requested: $2,000

Project Description:
The outdoor education class at Vista Charter School in Montrose, CO is respectfully requesting Nathan Yip grant money to install a Water Bottle Filling station to be purchased and installed. Vista Charter School is an Alternative Education High School that serves 180 students that were not successful in a traditional school setting. Vista Charter School serves its students through an individualized educational plan and a project-based hands-on approach to teaching and learning. The At-Risk High School is a part of the Montrose County School System.

Project Goals:
At Vista Charter School, we currently do not have a water bottle filling station and must get water from a drinking fountain, sink, or plastic water bottles purchased in bulk. Through their research on Landfills and Environmental Impact of Waste, the Outdoor Education Class at Vista Charter has taken it upon themselves to research the problem of plastic water bottles and their impact on all of us and has identified a solution to the environmental problem. The class feels that the purchase of a water bottle filling station will reduce plastic waste, further create a sense of school community by addressing problems as a school family, and allow all staff and students to access filtered water for their health and wellbeing.

Budget Breakdown:
Water filling station: $1209
Install / Materials / Plumber Cost: $800
