Don't watch the news, Learn to deliver it with help from a NYC Anchor!
Overview: Two students will be given a hands-on look into what it takes to identify, gather, and report the news. Students will receive an edited copy of the broadcast! The winning bidder will select both students participating.
April 30th 3:15pm-6:00pm
Details:
The session will start with planning the story including the interview preparation and planning.
The Reporter will learn how to conduct a strong interview and ask follow-up questions.
Students and staff will participate as the interview subjects and talk about highlights of their Spring Break.
The Reporter will learn what an MOS (Man on the Street) interview is and how to conduct one effectively.
The Anchor will practice writing an introduction to the story, as well as a wrap-up. The Anchor will also learn how to read a teleprompter, ad-lib, connect with the viewer, and "toss" to the Reporter "In the field".
Both participants will learn how to identify and shoot B roll for the segment.
Both participants will learn what a news package consists of and how to edit it in the correct format for broadcast.
The Reporter and Anchor will assist in gathering essential news package elements and help edit the segment into a news/remote package.
The Reporter will learn how to tape an "as-live" stand-up on the scene. The result will be a 2-5-minute newscast/segment that can run on the HR news later in the week.
