Two special Magnum bottles - 1997 Joseph Phelps Insignia Cabernet and 2017 Ghost Cellars Cabernet

Insignia is one of the OG "Cult Cabernets" from Napa Valley. The 1997 Insignia was awarded "Wine of the Year" by Wine Spectator Magazine and a perfect score of 100. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate "one of the world's finest Cabernet Sauvignon-dominated blends of the vintage."

The 2017 Ghost Cellars is our Cabernet from the Central Coast. 94% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cab Franc, 1% Merlot.

1997 Insignia Tasting Notes
WA - Score 100
An inky/plum/purple color is accompanied by a stunning bouquet of violets, charcoal, creme de cassis and a hint of toast. Prodigious when it hits the palate with a full-bodied expansiveness, there is not a hard edge to be found in the 1997, only velvety tannins, compelling depth and fruit intensity, and stunning purity. It is a perfect expression of Napa viticulture and wine that should continue to age effortlessly for another two decades or more. Tasted, 9/2013 (RP)

2017 Ghost Cellars Tasting Notes
FV - Score 97
All indications are that the 2017 is a Home Run. It is very beautiful, dense plum/ruby/purple-colored. The nose is ripe and complex but not overpowering. Rich dark fruit flavors of black plum and currant on the palate with hints of licorice, cola in velvety tannins. Medium-bodied, seamless freshness, finishing very long and achingly stunning. True to Ghost Cellars form, the 2017 vintage will be approachable now but subtle complexities will start to shine through and develop over the next 15 years. Tasted 1/2023 (FV)
