In this photo, Claire Thomas captures the enormous wingspan of an eagle on the gloved hand of a Kazakh rider in western Mongolia. Thomas has undertaken several independent photography projects in diverse and remote corners of the world, including Alaska, Wyoming, Lesotho, Mozambique and more recently Mongolia where she photographed the iconic Kazakh eagle hunters of the Altai Mountains. Her work has been exhibited internationally.
Claire Thomas
Claire Thomas is an award-winning photojournalist and fine art photographer from Wales, currently based in the United Kingdom and Egypt. At an early age, she developed an ardent love for horses, which led her to work as a horse wrangler in Wyoming, where she first began taking photographs. Thomas next traveled to Ghana on a volunteer project supporting women living with HIV/AIDS. After that experience, she continued to pursue projects in which her photography could be used to raise awareness of pressing issues. Thomas's photojournalism spans critical subjects such as political and military conflicts, human rights, and humanitarian and environmental crises. Her work has been exhibited internationally in New York, Paris, Brussels, Sharjah, Taipei, Cairo, and London, and her acclaimed photography prints sell to collectors and businesses worldwide.
