The Spiraling Anxiety, Layla, Age 15
"It's about how anxiety is a big problem for a lot of people. It causes things they can't control- emotions can be all over the place. Depression and OCD can happen. This is why I painted this- to express how anxiety can seem. The eyeball is what the person sees. The swirl from the iris can show how a person is losing their mind/feeling crazy. Spiraling downward. Tears show how the emotions can take over. Blue is for sadness and other unhappy emotions to show what the person is seeing. I was young when I was in treatment. I know what I had to go through was tough and left a scar from surgery. When I am anxious, I draw or listen to music until I am ready to talk about it and face it. Whatever it is, you have to face it. Art and music can help you get there."
