Since 1994, Heart Care International has performed free crucial heart surgeries on poor infants and children in underserved countries where healthcare is a privilege. Importantly, we are committed to training and educating host country doctors and nurses on the diagnosis and techniques of heart surgery through apprenticeship and 24/7 long-distance consultation, furthering the reach of Heart Care International and saving the lives of children and young adults worldwide.
Heart Care International team members are 100% volunteer, using their vacation time to care for children in need. The team provides the medications, supplies and equipment to care for every child. Surplus is donated to the host country hospital.
Heart Care International deploys elite teams of U.S. surgeons, doctors, and nurses to Guatemala, Mexico, Peru, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, and soon Honduras. Our reach is growing. We need your help to continue these mission trips.
Heart Care International stands out as a truly unique organization by offering ongoing education and training on the ground, and long-distance consultations for many years after the first surgical mission trip. This commitment ensures that these initiatives in each host country will continue to thrive as sustainable cardiac care programs.
In the future, Heart Care International plans to advance transcontinental consultative services by developing a global IT imaging service to share echocardiograms, CT scans and angiograms performed in the host country with Heart Care International experts in the United States. This advancement will provide access to real-time diagnosis and consultations from Heart Care International medical professionals across the world.
