Help support Sunnybeam by contributing to our fundraising efforts.

The 2025 auction will raise funds to help bridge the gap between tuition and annual operating expenses of Sunnybeam. No act of generosity is too small to make a difference, and we are so grateful to our incredibly generous community for continuing to support our school.

Sunnybeam School is one of the true traditions on Mercer Island. We operate in the historic Lakeview School building, which was built in 1918 to house eight grades of Mercer Island students.  In 1988, the building was entered on the National Register of Historic Places.

For over 67 years, Sunnybeam School has been operating as a non-profit preschool from the historic red schoolhouse. Since opening its doors in 1957, the school has offered the Mercer Island community a safe and nurturing learning environment focused on helping young children grow and develop social, emotional, cognitive and physical skills, along with a deep love of learning. Through an emphasis on guided play, art, music, early literacy, drama and the outdoors, Sunnybeam students make friends and learn to interact creatively and inclusively with each other and the world around them.

In this spirit, Sunnybeam is hosting our bi-annual auction on April 5, 2025 at The Bellevue Club, inspired by Eric Carle's classic children's book The Very Hungry Caterpillar. The auction theme "In The Light of the Moon" celebrates the growth and transformation that begins in these early years of a child's education. This community event will be a night of great food and fine wine with both live and silent auctions to raise funds to help bridge the gap between tuition and annual operating expenses of Sunnybeam. Business leaders, community supporters, education enthusiasts and a host of Mercer Island parents and caregivers will all be in attendance. With over 25,000 people living and working on or near the island, our community of current and alumni families is a diverse and committed group eager to support local businesses.
