This piece, Wrackline Walk: 9/29/2024, measures 24 inches by 14 inches. The wrack line is the area on the beach where organic material and other debris is deposited at high tide. The materials are collected sea debris and synthetic marine grade line.
Rebecca McGee Tuck is a fiber artist, sculptor and dedicated ocean activist. Her artwork serves as a visual narrative, transforming discarded materials from our throw-away society into environmentally aware works of art. Her work has been juried in exhibitions across the Northeast.
In Rebecca's words:
The colors and textures of materials that I use draw viewers close, and ask people to confront the consequences of our actions and embrace environmental stewardship.
My ongoing series Along the Wrack Line explores the balance between humans and nature. Created from debris collected along the Massachusetts coastline, each piece carries a stark reminder of our impact on the ocean's ecosystem. Cleaned and transformed, they shed light on man-made materials polluting our waters and tangling wildlife.
My art is intended to be a beacon of hope and a call to action, demonstrating the transformative power of art and advocating for positive change.
