Built in 1870, Chateau de Laubade is the premier Armagnac property, 260 acres of a single vineyard, in the best area of the appellation the Bas Armagnac. This rare and historic form of brandy was distilled during WW II, a very small vintage due to the ravages of the war. It was bottled in 1998, allowing the flavors to blend for more than 50 years in the casks. Cognac undergoes double distillation, resulting in a smoother, more refined taste; Armagnac is distilled once, and retains more of its natural grape flavors, offering a bolder, earthier and spicier profile. This Armagnac from Chateau de Laubade has notes of dried fruits, hints of vanilla and spices, with a long, smooth finish. Once opened, Armagnac will keep one to two years, as long as the bottle is well-corked after each use.
