Lore: Malachite is a copper-rich mineral that displays a rich, green color and features a characteristic, and widely varying, pattern of banding that can be likened to woodgrain. Its name derives from its resemblance to the leaves of the mallow plant. Folklore holds that malachite represents the deep, healing and beauty of nature. In addition to its use in jewelry design, malachite is one of the oldest known green pigments and was used in creating green paints until about 1800. Each is unique; natural banding patterns will vary.
Lore: Lapis lazuli is a metamorphic gem composed of lazurite, pyrite and calcite. It exhibits a shade of blue resulting from the relative color percentages of these minerals. Represented in folklore as a symbol of the starry night, lapis lazuli is said to stimulate the intellect and support wisdom.
