Founded in 1911, when a group of Evanston Golf Club members wanted to move west-for-more-land, Westmoreland Country Club was originally designed by William Watson in 1912 and has undergone renovations by William Langford in 1920 and Arthur Hills in 1993. The club has hosted several prestigious tournaments in its day including the 1917 Western Open, the 1921 Western Amateur won by Chick Evans and the 1938 U.S. Women's Amateur Championship won by 20-year-old Patty Berg.
