Mom's Canal, Jersey City, NJ (near the Sugar Factory) by Oscar Bluemner (1867-1938) black crayon drawing, 7.35 x 5 inches, 14.4 x 8.5 inches framed (double-sided), May 9, 1919. Born in Germany, Oscar Bluemner studied painting and architecture at the Royal Academy of Design in Berlin and traveled to America in 1893. A leading proponent of modern art in the early 20th century, Bluemner was closely linked with photographer Alfred Stieglitz and vanguard movements, such as synchronism and precisionism.
